Your stay at Hawaii Volcano Lodge offers a unique blend of Hawaiian history. Volcano Village is part of the sacred lands of Ola'a, first settled by the Kahuna (priests) of the Volcano Goddess Pele. The area was then kapu (forbidden) except to royalty. Now, you are our royalty. The village is a “World Heritage Site,” protected habitats for rare and endangered species as well as unique biological and geological evolutions having universal significance to all humanity. You will be our privileged guests to witness these wonders.

Hawaii's Big Island has spectacular contrasts. The mighty volcanoes Mauna Loa (13,679 feet) and Kilauea, lofty snow clad Mauna Kea (13,796 feet), the Kau Desert, gorgeous waterfalls, the Puna Fern Forest, and the colorful orchids of Hilo. The island grows sugar, coffee, cattle and macadamia nuts. Landmarks: Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Kealakekua Bay, Kailua-Kona, Kawaihae, Parker Ranch, Waipio Valley. From the snows of Mauna Kea to the snow-white beaches of the Kona Coast, the Big Island is one of the few places on earth where you can go from snow boardingto snorkeling in a single day. Between these two altitude extremes, you will find virtually every type of outdoor activity imaginable.
